Tracking progress is essential for fostering growth, motivation, and confidence in every participant. By regularly assessing skills, we can ensure continuous and proven development. Our structured approach includes continuous verbal feedback, hard copied skill benchmarks, and progress reports.
This helps you as teachers see their improvement over the half term and allows your pupils to stay motivated throughout their gymnastics and multi-sport journeys.
How and why we do it...
Our pupil reports are designed to align with the National Curriculum, using these core skills as headers.
These all reflect key areas of physical education and gymnastics development. Each pupil is assessed under these categories and given a score of "Competent," "Showing Progress," or "Not Competent." This clear and structured approach helps teachers easily identify students' strengths and areas for improvement, ensuring further support can be given to these pupils struggling with certain areas of the curriculum.
By providing detailed insights into each child's abilities, these reports aid teachers in planning lessons and fostering ongoing development in line with curriculum standards.
Ofsted!
In addition to aiding teachers, these reports prove invaluable during Ofsted assessments. They have proven to offer clear evidence of how the school tracks and supports pupil development in line with the National Curriculum.
Ofsted inspectors can easily access detailed progress data, demonstrating the school’s commitment to monitoring, improving, and tailoring physical education to each individual. This structured approach not only highlights student strengths and areas of improvement for Ofsted to see, it also reflects positively on the school's dedication to high educational standards in PE.
